Job summary

United Way of New York City is seeking an Associate Vice President of Development and Donor Engagement to drive fundraising strategy and donor growth in a hybrid/in-person environment in New York City. The AVP will lead a team, manage major gifts, events, and donor experiences while collaborating with Marketing, Community Impact, and Finance to maximize impact.

The role requires a deep nonprofit fundraising background, strong leadership, and a data-driven approach to engagement and revenue

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of progressive nonprofit development or fundraising experience.
• Proven track record managing donor portfolios and driving revenue growth.
• At least five years of staff management experience.
• Strong relationship management and communication skills.
• Strategic thinker with cross-team collaboration and project leadership.
• Experience with fundraising tools/CRM systems preferred (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge).

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategies across major gifts, annual giving, events, and donor engagement.
• Drive revenue growth by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-value donors.
• Collaborate with leadership to set goals, monitor performance, and adjust strategies.
• Identify new funding opportunities and partnerships to strengthen impact.
• Build and manage relationships with donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders.
• Oversee events strategy, planning, and execution to meet revenue goals.
• Lead transition and system integration for Donor Engagement (Andar to Raiser's Edge).
• Ensure data integrity, reporting alignment, and cross-functional collaboration.
