Job summary

Forestown is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair our laser cutting systems. The role requires daily on-site presence in Detroit and monthly travel within the United States.

You will train customers, diagnose issues, and ensure optimal machine performance. The ideal candidate has an electro-mechanical background, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in a technical field.
• 3+ years in field service for laser/CNC or capital equipment.
• Strong electro-mechanical and CNC control knowledge.
• Willingness to travel 1–2 times per month within the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission laser cutting systems on customer sites.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support and guidance.
• Train end-users and maintenance staff on operation and maintenance.
• Document service reports and parts usage; maintain records.
• Build trusted relationships with customers as technical advisor.
• Log field feedback to engineering and product teams for improvements.
• Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate logistics.
