Job summary

The Illinois Hammer Injury Law Firm is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist in Chicago to manage medical records for cases. You will order, download, and document records and bills, and maintain clear communication with third-party record retrievers, facilities, and our accounting team.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to maintain clear and thorough records.
• Experience in multitasking, working at a fast pace, and strong time management skills.
• Experience in medical records management is a plus but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Order all medical records and/or bills needed for cases from healthcare facilities.
• Download records, bills, and documents received via fax or email.
• Document all communication in cases with clear records.
• Read, respond to, and act on emails related to medical records requests.
• Collaborate with third-party record retrievers to obtain records.
• Maintain communication with facilities used by the firm for record retrieval.
• Support accounting by ensuring charges related to medical records are accounted for and paid.
• Maintain communication with attorneys and case managers regarding medical records.
