Job summary

Instagram is seeking a Design Systems Product Designer to set vision and strategic direction for scaling quality across surfaces. This onsite role in San Francisco focuses on component systems, spec-to-code alignment, documentation, and an evolving AI knowledge layer.

You will work with leadership to drive adoption across design and product, build patterns with product teams, and contribute to tooling and measurements that prove system value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience, with leadership of design system initiatives at consumer scale.
• Portfolio demonstrating systems thinking across component libraries, design tokens, and documentation.
• Experience designing for large-scale consumer products with cross-functional leadership.
• Strong collaboration with engineering on APIs, code architecture, and spec-to-code alignment.
• Experience with AI-native workflows and structuring design knowledge for machine readability.

Responsibilities

• Identify, shape, and drive critical design system initiatives for Instagram.
• Design scalable, composable component systems across surfaces.
• Close the gap between design specs and shipped code through ongoing spec-to-code alignment.
• Evolve the AI knowledge layer for AI-native workflows.
• Raise the design craft bar across workstreams and help adoption.
• Drive adoption through organizational leadership and cross-functional alignment.
• Collaborate with product teams to build new patterns and design tooling.
• Contribute to design tooling and workflows to accelerate on-system work.
• Develop measurement approaches that demonstrate system value.
• Shape product group direction using institutional knowledge of how Meta builds products to move initiatives forward.
• Lobby for new ideas while navigating organizational complexity to get things done.
