IPS is seeking a Design Safety Engineer to join our team and support the Design Division Safety Program. The role can be remote and involves PHAs, risk assessments, and safety program deployment across IPS projects in the life sciences sector.

You will work with the Director of Engineering and Design Safety and collaborate with project managers, clients, and consultants to ensure designs are safe, compliant, and operable. A strong background in process safety and OSHA standards is required.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or relevant science required.
• Experience with OSHA 1910 and 1926 requirements.
• Experience interacting with cross-functional facility owner teams.
• Strong time management and ability to work on multiple projects.

Responsabilidades

• Works with the Director of Engineering and Design Safety to provide high-quality process safety support.
• Coordinates with the director, project managers, and clients to determine scope, complexity, planning, and scheduling requirements.
• Determines the type of safety reviews required for the specific project, including design risk assessments, PHA, HAC, ergonomic reviews, etc.
• Facilitates PHAs and design risk assessments using methodology such as HAZOP, What-if, HAZID, LOPA.
• Coordinates planning, resource scheduling, and compliance with client standards.
• Supports IPS process safety programs, including PHA, PRD, LEL calculations, and HAC.
• Develops departmental policies, technical standards, and procedures.
• Provides technical review for related reports and documentation.
• Trains IPS personnel on process safety management.
• Coordinates with outside consultants for training and resourcing.
• Performs process safety calculations (PRD, LEL infiltration, HAC).
• Conducts reviews to ensure facility designs meet regulations (biosafety, radiation safety, potent compounds; containment; etc.)
• Provides consultation on hazards and mitigation strategies.
• Estimates work hours to generate project deliverables.
• Ensures quality and compliance with IPS standards and codes.
• Timely delivery of project deliverables.
• Participates in business development by seeking new opportunities.
• Contributes to sales presentations and proposals.
• Evaluates and monitors training and awareness programs for design division personnel.
• Supports implementation of Design Field Safety through auditing and training.
• Supports design division personnel in hazard identification and assessment at IPS and client facilities.
• Special projects as assigned.
