True Markets in New York is seeking a design intern to work across product screens, brand assets, and the design system, with direct mentorship from product and marketing teams. The small team moves fast and ships work quickly, offering real hands-on experience.

The role requires an undergraduate/graduate student or recent graduate, a strong Figma portfolio, and passion for crypto/fintech design. This internship is based in our NYC office with hourly compensation and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in undergrad/grad program or graduated within 12 months.
• Portfolio shows UI and brand/marketing work.
• Fluent in Figma with components and prototyping.
• Strong visual fundamentals: typography, layout, color.
• AI tools usage with careful verification (Claude).

Responsibilities

• Design product screens and flows for the True Markets app and web surfaces.
• Produce marketing and brand assets: social graphics, landing pages, decks, event collateral, app store visuals.
• Contribute to design system components and tokens, maintaining consistency.
• Turn market concepts into clear visual explanations: charts/diagrams.
• Iterate quickly on feedback and ship revisions in hours, not days.
• Prepare assets for engineering and verify built results against design.
• Maintain asset library and keep files organized for team reuse.

Job Description

The Design intern works across everything we ship and everything we say: product screens for the trading app, brand and marketing assets for launches, and the visual system that holds both together. You'll take real work end to end, from a rough brief to a shipped screen or a live campaign, with direct mentorship from the product and marketing teams. This is a small team, so the work is real and it goes out fast.

Responsibilities

• Design product screens and flows for the True Markets app and web surfaces, from wireframe through high-fidelity mockup and prototype.
• Produce marketing and brand assets: social graphics, landing pages, decks, event collateral, and app store creative.
• Contribute components, tokens, and documentation to the design system, and keep it consistent as it grows.
• Turn dense market and product concepts into clear visual explanations: charts, diagrams, and data displays.
• Iterate quickly on feedback from product, engineering, and marketing, and ship revisions in hours not days.
• Prepare and hand off assets to engineering, and check the built result against the design.
• Maintain the asset library and keep files organized so anyone on the team can find and reuse work.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or graduated within the past 12 months.
• A portfolio that shows both interface work and brand or marketing work. We care more about how you think than where the project came from.
• Fluent in Figma: components, auto layout, variables, prototyping.
• Strong visual fundamentals: typography, layout, hierarchy, color.
• AI-native: uses Claude or comparable tools daily, with strong instincts for when to trust output and when to verify it.
• Takes an edit without ego and can defend a choice when it matters.
• Reliable and self-directed, and asks early rather than stalling.

Ideal Qualifications

• Motion and animation work in After Effects, Rive, Lottie, or similar.
• Comfort with front-end basics, enough HTML and CSS to know what is cheap to build and what is not.
• Experience designing data-dense interfaces: charts, tables, trading or analytics screens.
• Interest in crypto, trading, or fintech, from coursework or personal use.
• Has contributed to or maintained a design system.
• Short-form video or social creative editing.
• Coursework in design, HCI, fine arts, or a self-taught equivalent with the work to show for it.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $25 – $35 per hour
