Job summary

Southland Industries, Inc. is offering an internship program in Houston, TX, designed to immerse students in the Design Engineering of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.

The role supports the design team under Senior Engineers and exposes you to calculations, drawings, and specifications during project delivery. The program emphasizes learning to read mechanical/plumbing plans, using CADD, and communicating with management and trades.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Southland needs: Mechanical Engineering.
• Completion of Thermodynamics and HVAC Design is highly desirable.
• Strong work ethic and initiative to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers in design tasks as required.
• Perform basic calculations for heating, cooling, equipment sizing and duct sizing.
• Coordinate design activities with project management, architects, and other trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design work.
