Job summary

Southland Industries invites motivated students to join its internship and New College Graduate program in Houston. The role supports the design team in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection projects, with a focus on learning through hands‑on tasks and mentorship from senior engineers.

You will assist in calculations, drawings, and specifications, gaining exposure to professional design workflows, code reviews, and coordination with project teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with design engineering in HVAC/plumbing fields.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers with design tasks for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
• Perform basic deliverables and calculations related to heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, and duct/pipe sizing.
• Support coordination with project management, architects, and trades through project completion.
• Assist in drafting and checking CADD drawings and specifications.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design decisions.
