Job summary

AVI-SPL in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Design Engineer 2 to translate client needs into actionable AV system designs and precise documentation. You will work with Account Managers to understand requirements and communicate design concepts with minimal oversight.

At this level you handle complex projects, refine your expertise, develop specializations, and lead design packages while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong design and documentation skills for AV systems.
• Proficient in IP networking and AVoIP.
• Familiar with AVIXA and ANSI/TIA standards.
• Proficiency with CAD tools like AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Account Managers to translate customer requirements into system designs.
• Explain design concepts to clients and stakeholders with minimal oversight.
• Provide accurate labor estimates and material requirements for proposals.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive design standards for large accounts.
• Create detailed system documentation, including BOMs and block diagrams.
• Identify risks, site conditions, scheduling constraints and dependencies in designs.
• Coordinate with vendors, architects, consultants and contractors.
• Review designs with junior engineers and guide adherence to best practices.
• Support project teams during implementation as the design authority.
• Adapt to evolving priorities and objectives.
