Job summary

AVI-SPL is seeking a Design Engineer 2 to translate customer needs into robust AV system designs and detailed documentation. You will collaborate with Account Managers to capture requirements, assess risks, and communicate design concepts to stakeholders.

At this level you will handle complex projects, refine technical expertise, and own design packages from concept to execution, while guiding junior engineers and coordinating with vendors and contractors.

Qualifications

• Proven AV system design and configuration experience.
• Strong understanding of AV/IT integration and architecture.
• Ability to translate client needs into actionable design packages.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as AVIXA/ANSI/TIA.
• Experience reviewing designs and guiding junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Account Managers to understand customer requirements and translate them into system designs.
• Explain design concepts to clients and stakeholders with minimal oversight.
• Provide accurate labor and material estimates for proposals.
• Develop and maintain design standards for large, repeat accounts.
• Create detailed system documentation including BOMs and drawings.
• Identify risks, site conditions, and dependencies in the design process.
• Coordinate with vendors, architects, and contractors to align designs with project constraints.
