Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer I to contribute to design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets in the United States. You will collaborate with model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff to develop practical, efficient, and cost-effective HVAC/mechanical designs, leveraging VDC and CFD feedback.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient with CADD and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC systems under supervision.
• Perform basic heating/cooling load calculations and equipment sizing.
• Assist in coordinating design aspects with management, architects and trades.
• Conduct and check CADD drafting work.
