Job summary

Jacobs seeks an experienced Design/Build Design Manager to lead transportation infrastructure projects across the Midwest. You will coordinate design teams, manage budgets and schedules, and interface with clients to deliver high‑quality design-build solutions.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE licensure, and substantial DOT project experience. You will mentor staff, pursue multi‑state opportunities, and contribute to a growing regional transportation presence in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer license or reciprocity ability required.
• Significant transportation project experience with DOTs and strong local relationships.
• Proven project leadership experience.
• Experience managing large roadway/highway/bridge programs.
• Familiarity with AASHTO design guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to pursue multi-state delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, consulting, design, and alternative delivery pursuits; assist Sales in interviews and qualifications.
• Serve as main client contact to ensure expectations are identified and met.
• Oversee delivery of large-scale design-build and other delivery transportation projects.
• Provide direction to project teams and coordinate with stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget, and within scope; manage budgets, staffing, and schedules.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and site visits during construction.
• Ensure adherence to Jacobs’ Quality Program and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior staff and help build Midwest transportation presence.
