Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Design/Build Design Manager to lead transportation infrastructure projects across the Midwest. You will manage design-build and alternative delivery efforts, coordinating with clients, teams, and subcontractors to deliver quality outcomes.

This role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE licensure, and proven leadership on DOT projects. The position offers a hybrid work model with substantial collaboration across offices and field sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer and ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
• Substantial years’ experience on transportation projects with DOTs and established local relationships.
• Demonstrated project leadership experience.
• Substantial complex transportation project management experience leading roadway, highway, and/or bridge projects and/or programs.
• Understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO design guidelines to transportation projects.
• Demonstrated communication and writing skills including technical report writing.
• Willingness to support multi‑state pursuits and delivery across alternative project delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation infrastructure projects in the Midwest and build client relationships.
• Organize and develop teams to pursue planning, consulting, design, and delivery work.
• Act as the main client contact on assigned projects to ensure expectations are identified and met.
• Oversee large-scale Design-Build and other delivery projects (CM/GC, PDB).
• Provide direction to project teams and coordinate with stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget while managing proposals and staffing plans.
• Ensure quality per Jacobs’ Quality Program and mentor emerging professionals.
• Recruit additional design team resources and help build a Midwest transportation presence.
