Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Construction Project Manager Intern/Co-op for Summer 2027. You will gain full-lifecycle exposure from concept to site delivery, attending design meetings and collaborating with engineers and architects.

Learn bidding, scheduling, permitting, and reporting while working with experienced DBMs. You’ll participate in training, mentorship, and professional development, with housing stipend options and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program.
• Driver’s License required.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
• Previous Co-op or Intern experience in construction preferred but not required.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Concept to Completion: understand project progression from idea to delivery.
• Estimating and Takeoffs: describe proposals and assign accurate dollar values.
• Scheduling: create timelines for subcontractors and trades.
• Design Meetings: attend with owner and design team including engineers and architects.
• Reporting: prepare weekly reports, document progress, track actions.
• Shadowing: observe DBMs in project calls and site meetings.
• Buyout: send bid instructions, evaluate proposals, assist with subcontract awards.
• Permitting: submit permit applications with documents and fees.
• Shop Drawing & Submittal Review: route submittals and communicate approvals.
• Billing: learn about subcontracts, change orders and pay applications.
• Job Site Visits: accompany DBMs to monitor progress.
• Training & Learning: participate in biweekly sessions by Learning & Development.
• Business Development: understand client relationships and industry strategies.
