Job summary

ARCO Design/Build, Inc. invites you to apply for the Construction Project Manager Intern or Co-Op (Summer 2027) in Houston, TX. You will participate in the full lifecycle of our design/build projects alongside experienced professionals.

This internship offers exposure to concept-to-completion, estimating, scheduling, design meetings, reporting, and site visits. You’ll develop practical skills through shadowing, buyout, permitting, and mentoring, with housing stipend and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering program.
• Driver’s License required.
• Excellent verbal communication, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
• Previous Co-op or Intern experience in construction preferred, but not required.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Concept to Completion: learn project lifecycle from concept through final delivery.
• Estimating and Takeoffs: describe proposals and assign dollar values.
• Scheduling: assist in creating timelines for subcontractors/trades activities.
• Design Meetings: attend owner and design team meetings (engineers/architects).
• Reporting: prepare weekly reports and track action items.
• Shadowing: join project calls and site meetings to observe DBMs.
• Buyout: send bid instructions, schedules, and drawings; evaluate proposals.
• Permitting: complete and submit permit applications with documents and fees.
• Shop Drawing & Submittal Review: route submittals and communicate approvals.
• Billing: learn about subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications.
• Job Site Visits: visit job sites to monitor progress.
• Training & Learning: attend offsite trainings and mentorship.
• Business Development: exposure to client relationships and strategy.
