Job summary

ARCO Design/Build in Louisville, KY is seeking a Construction Design/Build Project Manager Intern/Co-op for Summer 2027. You will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project, from concept through final delivery, while working with experienced professionals committed to your growth.

You will attend design meetings, assist with scheduling, buyout, permitting, and reporting, and participate in training and mentorship programs that foster industry-ready skills and professional development.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
• Driver’s License
• Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
• Previous Co-op or Intern experience in construction preferred, but not required
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Concept to Completion Approach: learn how projects are managed from concept to delivery.
• Estimating and Takeoffs: describe project proposals and assign dollar values.
• Scheduling: assist in creating timelines for subcontractors/trades activities.
• Design Meetings: attend meetings with owner and design team.
• Reporting: prepare weekly reports and track action items.
• Shadowing: observe how Design/Build Managers lead on calls and site meetings.
• Buyout: assist with subcontractor bids and award decisions.
• Permitting: complete permit applications with required documents and fees.
• Shop Drawing & Submittal Review: route submittals and communicate approvals.
• Billing: learn about subcontracts, change orders, and pay requests.
• Job Site Visits: accompany DBMs to monitor progress.
• Training & Learning: participate in trainings and learning sessions.
• Business Development: observe client relationships and strategy implementations.
