Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minneapolis, MN, seeks a motivated intern to support data analysis, reporting, and process improvement within the Gas & Electric Design Contracting team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to design, contracting, governance, and business analytics, with a May 24, 2027 start date and potential extension based on performance.

Responsibilities include building dashboards, validating data, and presenting insights to leadership.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Gas Design, or Electric Design related programs
• Occasional travel up to 10% within the service territory.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational and project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and performance metrics using Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through process mapping, documentation, and workflow analysis.
• Assist with data validation, quality reviews, and reporting related to design, contracting, and project delivery activities.
• Create presentations and recommendations for leadership based on data findings and business insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and Business Support
