Job summary

Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, seeks a DERMS Engineer/Analyst to support the integration and operation of Grid and Edge DERMS. You will develop dashboards, test model outputs, and coordinate improvements across GIS, SCADA, and enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or higher in Engineering, CS, GIS, Data Analytics, MIS or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in utility operations, GIS/modeling, data analytics, or enterprise application support.
• Experience with GIS, SCADA, ADMS, DERMS, asset management, CIS, or interconnection/program systems preferred.
• Experience with Python, SQL, PowerBI, Azure Databricks, GIS data, and data visualization.
• Experience with CIM/XML/JSON model exchanges and model validation processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support integration between DERMS, ADMS, GIS, SCADA, AMI, CIS, DER registration/interconnection systems, customer program systems, and vendor applications.
• Test and troubleshoot DERMS results for Forecasting, Optimization, and aggregated monitoring and controls by validating inputs, topology, telemetry, DER attributes, constraints, and business rules.
• Create model test cases, user acceptance test scripts, regression checks, issue logs and defect documentation for vendor and internal teams.
• Partner with distribution planning, distribution operations, engineering, IT/OT, DER program teams and vendors to resolve defects and improve outcomes.
• Support DERMS model build processes that convert data files and source-system extracts (CIM, XML, JSON, GIS exports, SCADA data, asset data, customer data, DER attributes, program parameters) into the network model.
• Maintain and improve DERMS model readiness by identifying missing equipment, topology issues, telemetry mismatches, and data discrepancies.
• Coordinate model improvements across GIS, SCADA, ADMS, DERMS Model Manager, asset management systems, and other data sources.
• Query databases and source-system repositories to validate model data, reconcile mismatches, document data lineage, and develop repeatable data quality workflows.
• Support ADMS and DERMS Model Manager integration, governance, process documentation, and long-term network modeling.
