Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking a DERMS Operations Specialist to lead real-time DER integration onto the distribution system, ensuring safe and reliable operation within grid constraints. The role interfaces with Bulk Power, Fleet, and IT/OT teams to support Phase II expansion, with a hybrid schedule and on-site coordination in Atlanta.

The candidate will monitor resources, develop interfaces and tooling, and contribute to training and process development for seamless DERMS operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in power delivery.
• Distribution or Transmission Control Center experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience preferred.
• Experience in renewables, storage, and/or analytics a plus.
• Experience in data validation and alarm management a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch DER resources and evaluate plans based on generation and load forecasts.
• Provide subject matter expertise on utility grid switching and DERMS tools and train the team.
• Test and troubleshoot DERMS results by validating inputs, topology, telemetry, and constraints.
• Create model test cases, test scripts, regression checks, and defect documentation.
• Recommend interface improvements and operational reporting while developing new interconnections.
• Support integration between DERMS and ADMS, GIS, SCADA, AMI, CIS and other systems.
• Participate in storm restoration support and post-event troubleshooting.
