Job summary

Forefront Dermatology seeks a Patient Service Representative I to be the first touch at our clinic in Summerville, SC. You will register patients, collect co-pays, verify demographics, manage scheduling, and support billing with accurate records while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality and a courteous, professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with EHR, Microsoft Office, and cosmetics payments is a plus; training provided.

Qualifications

• Up to one year of medical office or front desk experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating electronic health record and scheduling systems.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, staff, patients, and the public while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the clinic daily, including cash box counting and reconciliation of daily totals.
• Greet and check in patients; verify demographics and insurance in the EHR and scheduling system.
• Collect co-pays, account balances, cosmetic payments, and process retail transactions with receipts.
• Manage waiting room and communicate delays to patients as needed.
• Monitor daily schedule for changes and schedule appointments per procedures.
• Complete patient outreach to fill schedules and recalls; assist with referrals.
• Handle escalations from billing and central call center.
• Scan and manage documents in the EHR, including referrals, lab results, and authorizations.
• Prepare next-day appointments and verify payor information.
• Sell and track cosmetic products and retail items; record payments and manage inventory.
• Answer calls, screen inquiries, and route messages appropriately.
• Coordinate referrals and appointment requests per clinician templates.
• Sort and distribute mail per policy; adhere to compliance and training requirements.
