Job summary

Ameren Illinois seeks an Engineer to execute tasks related to customer DER interconnection projects, ensuring compliance with administrative and technical requirements. Responsibilities include expedited studies, reports, and testing in collaboration with field engineering and metering resources.

The role requires a BS in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering, a PE license preferred, and experience with DER standards and The PowerClerk platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one in Illinois preferred.
• Engineering experience preferred.
• Other Ameren Illinois office locations would also be considered based on location.

Responsibilities

• Understand, interpret, and apply Illinois Administrative Code Parts 466 and 467 and Ameren Illinois DER Interconnection Policy to customer DER projects.
• Perform DER interconnection expedited review studies and pre-application reports; coordinate with consulting resources.
• Create reports from the PowerClerk DER application repository.
• Provide technical assistance with DER witness testing for larger projects and transfer knowledge to field staff.
• Provide input on workflow improvements within the PowerClerk platform.
• Maintain familiarity with DER standards (IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, UL 1741, NFPA 70) and advise customers on applications.
• Maintain understanding of evolving DER system designs, including new inverter features and energy storage.
• Collaborate with Regulatory and Government Relations to stay updated on new rules affecting DER interconnection projects.
