Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Director of Construction - DER to lead the Western US execution for renewable energy projects from Denver, CO. You will ensure safety, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction, while guiding EPC, design-bid, and turnkey contracts across multiple regions.

The role requires a strong track record in solar, BESS, EV infrastructure, microgrids, and fuel cells, plus experience with IPP and utility clients.

Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency leading national construction operations for renewable energy or infrastructure EPC projects.
12+ years of progressive construction leadership experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Proven experience delivering solar, BESS, EV infrastructure, microgrids, or fuel cell projects at scale.
Strong background with IPP, C&I clients, and utility customers.
Deep understanding of EPC contracting, risk management, subcontracting, and self-perform construction.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing large project portfolios.

Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership and accountability for construction execution across DER technologies.
Lead construction execution for EPC, Design-Build, and fixed-price projects.
Oversee planning, mobilization, execution, commissioning, and turnover across regions.
Ensure safety, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement in productivity, cost control, and risk management.
Build scalable construction teams and mentor construction leaders.
