Assists with difficult skilled clerical and administrative tasks in voter registration and election activities. Prepares, verifies and submits data to statewide registration system (VERIS) to maintain accurate voter records. Reviews new applications and record changes and supervises the submission of data processing information for voter registration documents. Answers inquiries and provides information and statistics to the general public, government offices, elected officials and party representatives. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by courses in business; one to two years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Must have excellent organizational, communication and verbal skills. Must be a qualified voter of the Commonwealth. Must be able to work nights and weekends during elections.

Examples of Duties
Assists with difficult skilled clerical and administrative tasks in voter registration and election activities.
Reviews new applications and record changes and supervises the submission of data processing information for voter registration documents.
Reviews applications for registration for Roanoke City and other localities and determines qualification of voters as required by law.
Prepares, verifies and submits data to statewide registration system (VERIS) to maintain accurate voter records.
Checks daily reports from State Board of Election for accuracy and corrects as necessary.
Prints and mails voter registration cards and other voter correspondence.
Answers inquiries and provides information and statistics to the general public, government offices, elected officials and party representatives.
Oversees registration events at high schools and naturalization ceremonies.
Coordinates pre-election logistics with each voting site.
Assists with early in-person voting and serves as an officer of election in the central absentee precinct as needed.
Processes absentee voting by mail.
Prepares purchase orders for the department.
Assists eligible applicants in the voter registration and absentee process.
Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by courses in business; one to two years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be a qualified voter of the Commonwealth. Possession of a valid appropriate driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Must be able to travel to and from registration sites on weekends and nights as needed prior to each election. Must be able to work weekends during elections. Must be able to work election days from 5:00 a.m. until completion.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general public.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions according to law. Ability to work under pressures and handle election day problems quickly and efficiently.
