Job summary

Thornton Hall & Lodge, a purpose-built 96-bed home, is seeking a Deputy Manager to support the Home Manager in the daily running of the home at Thornton Lodge and Hall. This on-site role is 40 hours per week with a salary of £35,000–£38,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will hold Level 5 Leadership and Management for Adult Care, have strong knowledge of CQC standards, DoLS and MCA, and possess excellent communication and supervisory skills to lead a compassionate, resident-focused team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Deputy Manager in a larger care home or similar leadership role.
• Level 5 Leadership and Management for Adult Care qualification.
• Strong understanding of CQC standards, DoLS, and the MCA.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
• Lead, supervise, and support the care team to deliver outstanding care.
• Participate in assessments and care reviews, acting as a key contact for residents, families, and staff.
• Foster strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Promote a positive, resident-focused culture in line with our “Good” CQC rating.

What You'll Be Doing

Assist in the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Lead, supervise, and support the care team to deliver outstanding care.

Participate in assessments and care reviews, acting as a key contact for residents, families, and staff.

Foster strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

We’re seeking someone who is:

• Previous experience as a Deputy Manager in a larger care home, or in a leadership role within a care setting.
• Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.
• Strong understanding of CQC standards, DoLS, and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, remain organised, and make sound decisions under pressure.
• A compassionate, resident-focused approach, with a strong commitment to promoting dignity and independence.
