The Virginia Department of Fire Programs is seeking a knowledgeable Deputy Fire Marshal I to inspect a variety of facilities and ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, including SFPC, VCC, and VPBSR. The role also provides technical assistance and consultative services to local officials on code interpretation and enforcement.

The position requires collaboration with staff and officials, attendance at meetings, and participation in continuing education.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SFPC, VCC, VPBSR and related codes.
• Ability to inspect varied occupancies for fire code compliance.
• Ability to research and apply multiple codes to determine compliance.
• Ability to read construction documents and interpret fire protection features.
• Experience collaborating with local fire/building officials and stakeholders.
• Ability to draft technical reports and complete forms.
• Ability to present on fire safety topics to professional groups.
• Proficient in office software and presentations.

Responsabilités

• Inspect public/private buildings for compliance with SFPC, VCC, and VPBSR.
• Provide technical assistance to local fire marshals and officials.
• Attend meetings and professional organization events; participate in training.
• Travel as needed and participate in emergency operations/support.
