Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one year Fire Inspector I experience and three years in fire protection or related trades.
• Background checks and driving record required; underfill options may apply.
• Certifications required include NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector I/II and building code related training.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and regulated properties for compliance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code and county amendments.
• Witness contractor conducted performance tests.
• Enter inspection results and maintain complete records of inspections and tests.
• Identify code violations and issue notices, coordinating corrective actions.
• Review building plans, coordinate with county agencies, and interpret applicable codes.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and respond to on-call duties outside normal hours.
