Qualifications

• Knowledge of SFPC, VCC, VPBSR and related codes and standards.
• Ability to conduct inspections of diverse occupancies independently.
• Research and apply building, fire protection and related codes to determine compliance.
• Read construction documents to assess fire protection features for code compliance.
• Experience with fire protection design knowledge, including suppression systems.
• Understand the relationship between building, fire and related codes.
• Collaborate with local officials and stakeholders; present findings.
• Write technical reports and complete related forms.
• Develop and deliver oral presentations on fire safety topics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect public and private buildings to ensure compliance with SFPC, VCC, VPBSR.
• Provide technical assistance to local fire marshals and officials.
• Attend staff, agency and committee meetings and professional organizations.
• Engage in continuing education and training; travel as needed.
• Support during emergencies as part of VEST assignments.
