Job summary

The MBTA is seeking a Deputy Director of Assurance and Oversight to strengthen E&M safety by directing investigations, CAP management, and field assurance. This role reports to senior safety leadership and partners with QM, ORC, and policy teams.

You will set safety priorities, supervise two managers, and drive data-informed decisions across maintenance operations, training, and field activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum five years in safety management or similar transit environment.
• Two years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DLS, FTA, DPU regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Willingness to travel across MBTA service area.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee investigations into injuries, near misses, and hazards.
• Manage CAPs and Immediate Actions across regulators.
• Lead hazard identification and field assurance programs.
• Develop annual safety strategy and metrics.
• Mentor Safety & Training Manager roles.
• Collaborate with Safety, QM, ORC, and policy teams.
