Job summary

CFS is seeking a deputy-level finance leader in a hybrid Greater New Haven environment to oversee end-to-end finance operations across a large, multi-unit organization. The role partners with senior leadership to drive performance, controls, and strategic planning.

You will lead a finance team, implement process improvements, and ensure timely, accurate reporting. A CPA or public accounting background plus 7+ years of experience are highly valued for this senior position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; CPA and/or public accounting background highly preferred.
• Strong command of financial accounting, reporting, and internal controls.
• Proven experience leading teams within a large, decentralized organization.
• Advanced Excel skills; Workday experience a plus.
• Experience managing day-to-day finance operations and audit readiness.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including journal entries, payroll, purchasing, billing/AR, tax reporting, and reconciliations.
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensure audit readiness and compliance.
• Build unit financial plans and budgets, and deliver analysis and reporting to leadership.
• Resolve complex accounting and compliance issues as the primary finance contact for assigned units.
• Oversee key administrative functions such as onboarding, system access approvals, and staff training.
• Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.
