Position: Department Manager
As a Buffalo Wild Wings Department Manager, you will work for a brand that emphasizes energy, fun, and top performance. You will contribute to developing sauces for our wings and to growing our Restaurant Managers.
Department Manager Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, and ongoing development of Department Team Members to meet staffing guidelines.
- Responsible for WCT training in the department and maintaining the department at training store certification.
- Develops direct reports by creating action/development plans; coordinates with other Department Managers on hiring decisions.
- Creates weekly department schedules within budgeted labor guidelines and develops incentive programs and contests for the department.
- Provides regular performance feedback and timely appraisals; administers semi-annual merit increases.
- Coaches other managers on effective performance management procedures and oversees MIT training during training weeks.
- Supports on-going performance management and development of Bar, Hospitality, and Assistant Managers.
- Utilizes World Wide Wings support teams and provides coaching to ensure service standards and guest experience.
- Communicates effectively through departmental meetings to share successes, procedures, and opportunities.
- Ensures team members have current state-required training and permits Guest satisfaction practices.
- Participates in guest feedback programs (GEM) and handles food quality guest complaints in a timely manner.
Quality Operations
- Facilitates adherence to new food product rollouts; ensures team members meet quality, recipe adherence, and portioning standards.
- Maintains menu specs, wall charts, and department systems; coordinates with food vendors and ensures timely deliveries.
- Analyzes performance tools (GEM, QSCs, audits, P&L) and creates action plans; follows up with staff to ensure completion.
- Conducts administrative functions (invoices, inventory, end-of-day procedures); monitors equipment and coordinates repairs as needed.
- Ensures compliance with Board of Health and food safety practices; addresses BOH and Steritech issues promptly.
- Coordinates bar product/promotion rollouts; ensures bar systems and processes are utilized properly.
Bar Department Manager
- Analyzes restaurant performance data (GEM, QSCs, audits, P&L) and develops action plans; follows up with Bartenders and Bar Servers.
- Performs administrative functions as needed (invoices, end-of-day procedures).
- Monitors bar equipment to ensure proper operation and product quality.
Sales and Profits
- Heart of House: manage food cost and labor results within company variance targets; order food and paper products; maintain inventory levels.
- Establish daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly projections; understand P&L and develop plans for problem areas.
- Complete other assigned duties as required.
- Bar Department: manage beer, liquor, beverage costs, bar labor results, and inventory; understand sales and profit goals; manage waste, comps, voids, and discounts; develop bar sales incentives.
- Hospitality Manager: assist with Local Restaurant Marketing execution and sales incentives; complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Solid understanding of restaurant operations, food safety, and responsible alcohol service.
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required; restaurant and/or leadership experience preferred.
