Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care, manage complex cases, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to advance health equity and improve community well‑being.

Responsibilities include examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery and emergency services; maintain records; participate in quality improvement and infection control; support program

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from ADA/CODA‑accredited school.
• NBDE completed; current, full dental license in a U.S. state/ DC/ territory.
• At least one year of full‑time experience at GS‑12 level or above.
• Two‑year residency in dentistry or related medical science (GS‑12) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in restorative, pediatric, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, diagnostic, surgical and preventive services.
• Ability to document clinical records, infection control and quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care including exams, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery and emergencies.
• Independently evaluate and manage complex dental conditions and coordinate with medical providers.
• Deliver patient education and preventive care, addressing diverse cultural and socioeconomic needs.
• Provide consultation and guidance to healthcare providers and dental staff on dental health impacts on overall health.
• Maintain clinical records, support quality improvement and infection control, and contribute to program operations and planning initiatives.
