Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care, manage complex cases, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance health equity in American Indian communities.

You will perform medical‑dental integration work, maintain clinical records, participate in quality improvement, and contribute to strategic planning. Requires DMD/DDS, NBDE, full license, and GS‑12 level experience.

Qualifications

• DMD or DDS from an ADA or CODA‑approved school.
• Successful NBDE completion and current full dental license in a U.S. state or territory.
• At least one year of full‑time dentistry experience at GS‑12 level or above, or equivalent.
• Two‑year residency in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or related field for GS‑12 level.
• Experience across restorative, pediatric, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, diagnostic, surgical and preventive services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care including exams, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and emergencies.
• Independently evaluate and manage complex dental conditions and coordinate with medical providers for medically complex patients.
• Deliver patient education and preventive care, explaining options, risks, and post‑treatment care across diverse populations.
• Provide consultation to healthcare teams on dental health and its impact on overall patient health.
• Maintain clinical records, participate in infection control and quality improvement, support program operations, and contribute to committees and planning.
