Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care and manage complex cases within a multidisciplinary health team to improve community oral health and health equity.

You will perform examinations, diagnoses, treatment planning, restorations, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and emergency dental services while maintaining records and contributing to infection control and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD from ADA/CODA‑approved school.
• NBDE completed and current unrestricted U.S. license.
• At least one year of full‑time experience at GS‑12 level or above.
• Two‑year residency in dentistry or related medical science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in restorative, pediatric, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, diagnostic, surgical and preventive services.
• Ability to document clinical records, infection control and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care across examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative procedures, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery and emergency services.
• Independently evaluate and manage complex dental conditions and coordinate care with medical providers for medically complex patients.
• Deliver patient education and preventive care, addressing diverse cultural and socioeconomic needs.
• Provide consultation and guidance to healthcare providers and dental staff regarding dental health and overall patient health.
• Maintain clinical records, participate in quality improvement and infection control activities, and contribute to program operations and strategic planning.
