Job summary

The Indian Health Service seeks a Dentist to provide comprehensive, patient-centered dental care and manage complex cases within a multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate to advance health equity and improve community well-being.

Responsibilities include diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative and surgical procedures, and preventive care, with emphasis on culturally sensitive patient education and quality improvement involvement.

Qualifications

• DMD or DDS from an ADA/CODA-approved school.
• Successful NBDE completion and current U.S. dental license.
• At least 1 year of full-time dentistry experience at GS-12 level or above.
• Two-year residency in dentistry or related field for GS-12 level (or equivalent).
• Experience in restorative, pediatric, periodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, diagnostic, surgical and preventive services.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental care including exams, diagnosis, treatment planning, restorations, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and emergencies.
• Independently manage complex dental conditions and coordinate care with medical providers for medically complex patients.
• Deliver patient education and preventive care, addressing diverse cultural and socioeconomic needs.
• Provide consultation to healthcare providers and dental staff on dental health issues and their impact on overall health.
• Maintain clinical records, participate in quality improvement and infection control activities, and contribute to program operations and planning.
