Job summary

CHOICE Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking a Dental Assistant to support pediatric dental care by preparing treatment rooms, assisting the dentist, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterilization standards. The ideal candidate has a dental assisting certification (or 3–6 months related experience) and may be bilingual in Spanish; NM X-Ray certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Certification or training in dental assisting required.
• Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Experience with dental radiography is a plus.
• Infection control and sterilization knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the doctor in procedures.
• Takes x-rays.
• Takes IO's.
• Assists in prophylaxis cleaning of teeth.
• Instructs patients on oral hygiene.
• Charts cavities and teeth with doctor.
• Sterilizes instruments.
• Sets up/breakdown and prepares rooms for treatment/hygiene.
• Charting of patient's treatment and treatment plan with doctor.

The Dental Assistant supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with the New Mexico dental standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists the doctor in procedures
• Takes x-rays
• Takes IO's

Education and/or Experience

• Certification from a dental college OR three to six months related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred
• Bilingual in Spanish, preferred

Required Certificates or Licenses

• X-Ray New Mexico certification with license number
• BLS certification

Preferred Certificates or Licenses

• Topical Fluoride New Mexico Certification
• Sealant New Mexico Certification
• Coronal Polish New Mexico Certification with License number
