Job summary

Dental One Associates in Columbia, Maryland is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team and provide high levels of patient care in a team-based environment. Candidates must have dental assisting experience and be prepared to work full-time with rotating hours.

Responsibilities include room preparation, sterilization, radiography, patient education, and emergency readiness. Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, CPR and infection control training; benefits include health, dental, vision, life

Qualifications

  • Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
  • 2 years on-the-job experience.
  • Expanded Functions Dental Assistant – Preferred.
  • X-Ray certification – Preferred.
  • Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
  • Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  • Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
