Job summary

Dental One Associates in Maryland is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our clinical team and support dentists during procedures. Candidates must have at least 1 year of dental assisting experience and a Certified Orthodontic Assistant credential.

Qualifications

• 1 year on-the-job dental assisting experience.
• Certified Orthodontic Assistant is required.
• X-Ray certification is preferred; Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Clinical support: prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient care: welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & diagnostics: take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & safety: ensure infection control, protect patient confidentiality, and follow regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and scheduling/ intake as needed.
• Assist in emergencies by supporting CPR certification and emergency supplies.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations..
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed)
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Qualifications

• 1 year on-the-job-experience
• Certified Orthodontic Assistant - Required
• X-Ray certification - Preferred
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
• High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
