Position Details

This position reports to the Regional Service Manager - Western US.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for Demand Field Service in Process Automation Energy Industries Service. DCS Demand Field Service Technicians perform service in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will work closely with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality service. Based in San Francisco, CA, or Irvine, CA, you will work independently and as part of a team, depending on customer and contract requirements. The work model is remote.

• Provide site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation utilizing the ABB 800xA Distributed Control System.
• Handle all periodic, routine, preventive maintenance, and shutdown support, with additional support from ABB Technical and Advanced Services as needed.
• Troubleshoot low to medium complexity tasks related to hardware and software issues of the distributed control system, and manage technical support requests to optimize system performance.
• Maintain customer database by logging each call and support provided.

Qualifications for the Role

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education, military experience, and accomplishments.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft, networking, cybersecurity, and ABB 800xA DCS is a plus. Formal training will be provided.
• Self-motivated, self-directed, with willingness to travel overnight up to 80%.
• Experience in process automation, system maintenance, configuration, and process control is ideal.
• Strong commitment to excellence, effective communication, problem solving, teamwork, customer focus, and professionalism.
• Fluent in English, possess a legal driver’s license, and work authorization in the US.
