Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for Demand Field Service in Process Automation Energy Industries Service. DCS Demand Field Service Technicians perform service in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will work closely with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point of contact while delivering quality service.

As a DCS Demand Field Service Technician in San Francisco, CA, or Irvine, CA, you will be required to work independently and as part of a team based on customer and contract requirements. The work model for this role is: Remote. This position contributes to the Process Automation Energy Industries division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Providing site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation utilizing the ABB 800xA Distributed Control System.
2. Handling all periodic, routine, preventive maintenance, and shutdown support as part of your role (additional support from ABB Technical and Advanced Services will be provided where applicable).
3. Troubleshooting low to medium complexity tasks related to distributed control system hardware and software issues, managing technical support requests to optimize system performance.
4. Maintaining customer database by logging each call and the support provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education, military experience, and demonstrated accomplishments.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft, networking, cybersecurity, and ABB 800xA Distributed Control System is a plus. Formal training, on-the-job training, and mentorship will be provided to build confidence in delivering outstanding field service support.
• Self-motivated and self-directed, willing to travel overnight up to 80%.
• Experience in process automation, understanding of systems maintenance, configuration, and process control is ideal.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence, effective communication, problem-solving, teamwork, technical orientation, customer focus, and professionalism.
• Applicants must be fluent in English, possess a valid driver's license, and have work authorization to work in the US for ABB.
