Reports to: Deli Manager, Store Manager

Job Summary

A Service Clerk (Deli) is responsible for providing excellent customer service and managing deli products, including receiving, stocking, preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, rotating, and merchandising. Deli products include meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, and specialty items. It is essential to exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, Customer Service, and Value.

Essential Responsibilities

• Have a passion and knowledge of deli items specific to Pete’s offerings.
• Assist customers with product knowledge and guidance.
• Operate and maintain deli equipment safely and effectively.
• Provide courteous, professional, and timely customer service at the counter.
• Follow sanitation requirements and regulations.
• Perform cleaning duties efficiently in the deli department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-3 years of experience in grocery, delicatessen, or similar retail environment.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Retail Grocery, Hospitality, or Business is a plus.
• Sanitation License.

Skills and Abilities

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift loads up to 75 lbs.
• Work involves temperature changes and various environmental conditions in the deli department.
