Job Summary

A Service Clerk (Deli) provides excellent customer service, manages deli products including receiving, stocking, preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, rotating, and merchandising. Deli products include meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, and specialty items. Upholding Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, Customer Service, and Value, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Have a passion and knowledge of deli items specific to Pete’s offerings.
• Assist customers with expertise, guiding their selections.
• Use and maintain deli equipment effectively, including electric slicers.
• Provide courteous, professional, and timely service at the counter.
• Follow sanitation requirements and regulations.
• Perform cleaning duties efficiently.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-3 years experience in grocery, delicatessen, or retail environment.
• Associate or Bachelor Degree in Retail Grocery, Hospitality, or Business is a plus.
• Sanitation License.

Skills & Abilities

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs. as needed.
• Work primarily in the deli department, exposed to temperature variations.
• Physical ability to handle products and interact with customers and staff.
