Job Summary

A Service Clerk (Deli) is responsible for providing excellent customer service and managing deli products including receiving, stocking, preparing, slicing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, rotating, and merchandising. Deli products include meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, and specialty items. The role emphasizes embodying Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Passion and knowledge of deli items specific to Pete’s offerings.
2. Assist customers with product knowledge and guidance for proper selection.
3. Operate and maintain deli equipment effectively, including electric slicers.
4. Provide courteous, professional, and timely service at the counter.
5. Adhere to sanitation standards and regulations.
6. Perform cleaning and maintenance duties in the deli area.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-3 years of experience in grocery, delicatessen, or similar retail environment.
• Associate or Bachelor Degree in Retail Grocery, Hospitality, or Business is a plus.
• Sanitation License required.

Skills and Abilities

• Must be 18 or older.
• Exceptional customer service skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to walk and stand for long periods, lift up to 75 lbs., and work in variable temperatures.
