Qualifications

• Ability to read and write tags, invoices and inventory records.
• Basic math and analytical skills for costs, profits and labor.
• Strong communication skills with customers, employees and vendors.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Manage deli inventory and ensure adequate stock of meats, cheeses, salads and condiments.
• Perform regular stock counts to control waste and maintain accuracy.
• Verify deli deliveries and invoices for accurate billing from vendors.
• Assist in unloading deli merchandise and transporting items to sales floors or storage.
• Monitor department expenses and order supplies as needed.
• Handle damaged or spoiled products according to policy.
• Ensure food safety, temperature control and expiration date compliance.
• Enforce sanitation, safety and security policies within the department.
• Train, supervise and schedule deli staff to deliver high-quality customer service.
• Maintain housekeeping standards to keep the department clean and organized.
• Ensure compliance with all health, weight, measure and local regulations.
• Adhere to company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Supplemental: assist in slicing and counter duties when required.
• Supplemental: help in taking customer orders and making party trays.
