Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Software Engineer for Sensor/Weapon Command & Control in Laurel, MD. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software supporting missile Defence and EW missions, leveraging Python data analysis, TS/React UI, and cross‑platform development.

Expect collaboration with government partners on architecture and verification. Qualifications include a BS in a related field and 5+ years of experience, plus active security clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in Python data analysis and visualization.
• Web UI development with TypeScript and React; HTML5/JavaScript familiarity.
• Git/GitLab for version control; cross-platform (Windows/Linux) development.
• Experience with Docker and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; willing to travel occasionally.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a security clearance (Secret/TS/SCI).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for missile defense and EW missions.
• Work with data-type agnostic analysis tool suites and refactor codebases.
• Contribute to modeling and simulation frameworks, adding capabilities and visualizations.
• Collaborate with government and industry partners to define architecture and verification.
