Job summary

RTX is seeking a decisive technical leader to head an FPGA engineering team for defense programs in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will mentor engineers, drive cost/schedule, and ensure technical excellence across FPGA/ASIC development, working with software, hardware, and program management.

Travel up to 10%. A STEM degree with 7+ years' experience and 5+ years' leadership is required; security clearance is required for this U.S.-based role. Salary range is 132,400 USD to 251,600 USD.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 7+ years of related experience or Advanced Degree with 7+ years.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams including mentoring, task delegation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in program execution: bidding, project planning, EVM, risk & opportunity management, and FPGA/ASIC development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing FPGA engineering team from entry to senior levels.
• Collaborate across functions with software, hardware, and program management to deliver FPGA solutions.
• Drive product strategy and engineering excellence across the FPGA development lifecycle.
• Support business growth through technical expertise in proposals and pursuit efforts.
• Balance staffing across multiple programs to meet schedules and resource needs.
