Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an exceptional children (EC) teacher assistant to provide support under general supervision. You will assist the teacher and guide EC students toward IEP goals while facilitating access to general education as needed.

The role involves supervising students, preparing materials, collecting progress data, and supporting therapists and teachers with daily routines to maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 credit hours or completion of a formal assessment.
• Completion of the NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• Experience working with EC students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the assigned teacher to support EC students and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, and on bus routes as needed.
• Document student progress toward IEP goals and prepare instructional materials.
• Coordinate with teachers to plan and adapt lessons for individual needs.
• Support with daily routines, materials, portfolios, and classroom organization.
