Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an EC Teacher Assistant to support special education students under supervisor guidance. You will assist the assigned teacher, reinforce learning, and help students access general education when appropriate, following Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities include small-group instruction, data collection toward IEP goals, classroom supervision, and preparation of materials. The role is on-site, 9-month calendar with daily bus and safety duties.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 college credits required.
• Pass WorkKeys test or complete 96 hours of in-service training.
• Completion of the NC Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• One year working with EC children preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Coordinate with teachers to plan instructional activities.
• Document progress toward IEP goals.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays.
• Support during field trips and bus transportation.
• Assist with attendance procedures and record-keeping.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
