Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Debate Sponsor to organize, supervise, and promote a student club at Proviso Math & Science Academy. The sponsor acts as mentor, leader, and liaison among students, staff, and administration to ensure a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience.

Qualifications include an Illinois teaching license or equivalent, leadership ability, and collaboration with students.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or equivalent.
• Experience sponsoring or supervising school activities preferred.
• Preference for PTU bargaining unit members when qualifications are substantially equal.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all club activities and field trips, ensuring student safety and district policy compliance.
• Coordinate off-campus activity approvals, permission slips, and transportation per district procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with students, staff, and families about club events.
• Prepare students for participation, set expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
• Promote inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the club’s mission.
