Job summary

Houston Community College (HCC) is seeking a senior administrator to provide leadership for Advisement, Counseling, Career and Transfer Services, Internship and Job Placement, and Student Life. The role supports the Dean of Student Success and coordinates a comprehensive Student Support Services program designed to enhance the student experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or related field is required.
• 5 years related administrative experience with supervisory responsibilities required, preferably in a related position in an institution of higher education; including experience in academic advisement as well as developing and implementing student success strategies that address the needs of a diverse student population

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for Advisement, Counseling, Career and Transfer Services, Internship and Job Placement, Student Life, Recreational Sports, Judicial Affairs and New Student Orientation.
• Build partnerships with Academic Affairs, the Centers of Excellence, Workforce Development, and community-based organizations to develop, organize, and implement strategies to promote student retention and success.
• Develop in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research, assessment tools that keep track of student’s progress and engagement in the Student Support Services areas.
• Promote the ultimate student experience by establishing strategies and benchmarks to increase persistence, retention and academic success; this includes developing quantitative and qualitative metrics to assess student success strategies.
• Supervise the management of administrative processes including budget preparation and oversight, payroll, personnel, and purchasing.
• Also monitor the operational budgets in the various departments assigned to this position to ensure efficient and effective fiscal management of College funds.
• Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
