Job summary

University of Houston – Deans Office - Arts seeks a senior leader to oversee the college's academic advising and student-success operations across undergraduate and graduate programs, minors, certificates, and other pathways.

You will lead college-wide efforts on enrollment monitoring, student retention, degree progression, policy implementation, and the evaluation of course offerings to meet student and program needs.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree with seven years of related experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in student success, academic advising, and higher education administration.
• Demonstrated leadership in budgeting, policy development, and staff management.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive leadership and oversight for advising and student-success operations.
• Advises students on requirements, progression, and degree planning.
• Directs advising staff; sets service standards and priorities.
• Develops college-wide strategies to improve retention and degree completion.
• Monitors enrollment, course demand, and progression data to identify trends.
• Reviews schedules and coordinates offerings to support student progression.
• Advises college leadership on enrollment optimization and academic policies.
• Develops policies, programs, and communications to support advising and student success.
• Engages in professional development to apply best practices for office success.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
